Advantages: none for me
Disadvantages: frustration
This device is considered a must. I have seen people use it in lieu of a mower on slopes. They manicure the edges of any lawn, get rid of grass encroaching on boundaries and perform other garden miracles with it. So what is it about me and the other half that has made this the most useless garden tool we ever bought? Instead of trimming that edge I have dug up great clods of turf. Instead of getting rid of that growth near the wall I have had the cord snap countless of times. I do admit to having two left hands, but the other half is very dexterous (when he wants to be), yet his rate of success was hardly better than mine. He decided the electric models don't have the strength necessary for the job, and compounded the mistake by trading it in for a motorized version with a cord as thick as a shoelace. His efforts did not improve and I could not even hold it. We gave it to a proffessional gardener in payment for a radical on the garden. You should have seen with what artistry he used it. My advice is, before you buy, borrow one to see if you can handle it. It'll save you money and face.

- 05/06/01 Don't think mine is big. 20 square meters in the front and 80 in the back(excluding the patio). I hate to think what I'd have to do with a big one. |
