We was given this as a house warming gift along with the hedge trimmer too. Well, where do i start!

This is a great product and does do the job, however it is lethal! I will start with the negatives as i think all consumers should be aware of the possible pain that may ensue! I was changing the strimmer wire and i cut it to the right length (there is a little pin on the edge of the strimmer to measure against)- i then turned ont he strimmer so that it could automatically cut the wire to the right lengths (it does this for you). Well i herd a loud crackle and the reel that the strimmer wire is on flew out of the strimmer at lightening speed and smashed right into my ankle- well it was agony! I had a massive bruise and a gash in my ankle.

This kinda put me off using the strimmer again, but after feeling sorry for myself for a while i figured the garden was looking tatty- so i decided to brave it and give it another go. This time i changed the wire and faced the bottom of the strimmer against the ground (incase anything flew of again) and it worked fine. I cut the wire slightly shorter this time as the last time when i used the reccomended pin as a guide the wire was too long and got tangled and thats why it spun of.

Now for the positives, im going to be honest here- it is a great little strimmer (barring the incident of nearly amputating my foot) and has the power of any decent petrol stimmer. I have used it to cut though weeds that are about 4cm diameter and it does so no problem- it even cuts through thin twiggy type plants and brambles too with no problems. When turned on its side it also trims the edging of the lawn which is great and really makes a differance when tidying the garden up.

Overall i would reccomend this product, i would just advise others to trim the wire slightly shorter as it only cuts itself short anyway (built in mechanism).
