I chose this particular tripod as it reaches a greater than average height. With everything extended the tripod is slightly taller than I am (average male height) and is quoted as 178cm with the center column up (137.5cm without). It can be lowered to 7cm and is around 61cm when packed up.

I've used this tripod over the past year on many photographic assignments, including taking it into a cave. I've found it be a great value tripod and haven't had any problems with it. It slightly more basic than the 055XPROB in that the center arm doesn't rotate into a horizontal position. However, I've not found this to be an issue and it is possible to mount the camera upside down by turning the center column upside down.
