Advantages: Does what it says
Disadvantages: do not overload as it takes ages
My husband bought this drier, much to my despair; I prefer the good old radiators for drying my clothes as I have always thought that a drier would rapidly increase my electricity bill. Which yes it has increased it but not by as much as what I thought. I still tend to use the radiators also rather than just using the drier for everything.
The drier also said that it would save on ironing, as it takes all the creases out, surely that cannot be right. So when it was all set up, I decided to put it to the test. I decided to do a full load in the drier. Well I was slightly disappointed the clothes took absolutely ages to be dry, and although they were not really badly creased I still had to run over them with a quick iron. To be honest that is what I expected from a full load in the drier.
Then I tried just a few items, this time I was impressed, the clothes were dry in about 20 minutes, and there was no creases in them. So on the few items it worked brilliantly, but on a full load then its not so good. With having two kids, and both working full time, my husband thought that the tumble drier would help me, rather than having to spend time putting clothes on radiators. I think old habits die-hard and I still use the radiators more than I do the drier. It is ideal though for an emergency, when I need something drying quickly.
The drier has a 120-minute timer, so that if you want to go out you can leave the drier on without worrying about how long the drier is on for. Also if you are like me you will forget how long it has been on for and have to keep checking on it loll. Once you get used to using the drier you can normally tell how long the drier needs leaving on for.
The drier comes with 2 different temperature settings, which is great for the different fabrics, especially wool; as if it is too hot they shrink. I am always weary of using it for woollens but so far nothing has shrunk due to the 2 temperatures, I know to put the wool on the lowest temp.
Now on to if I would recommend this drier, I do like the drier so I would recommend it, the only problem I found is if you put too many clothes in at once, it takes ages to dry and there is still some creases in the clothes. Also it does cost more to run than my radiators, but my husband insisted on buying the drier. It looks nice in the kitchen and blends in well with my other things. I just guess I am in the habit of using radiators, but my drier always comes in handy and does get used. Especially on a Sunday night for the kids school clothes.
Summary: abit more expensive than radiators lol

Nar2 - 29/04/08 It would be handy here to add in detail about its actual energy and efficiency rating as well as the actual weight (kg) it can take - then future buyers will know if its worth it if they have a washing machine which can take 7kg to 8kg wash. Also is it noisy? An how much is it? |
