As usual I spent a lot of time on the internet looking for a decent tuner to complete my low priced mid-end hifi system. I quicly found that a simple radio tuner does not come for cheap so I turned once again to the second hand market but ended up finding a brand new one on ebay for about £50. That was a steal, for the seller anyway! Setting up could bot be easier; left and right audio jacks, power cord and antenna and we're done! The device has the same classy looks of the other devices from this series and the front pannel is not cramped with many buttons and is easy to read. It has two large buttons for manual tunning and just bellow two smaller ones to change between memorized stations. It can hod 30 presets. It also has a sleep timer with up to 120 min. The front display is quite complete and shows the time, station name and other information received through its RDS capable tuner, and signal strenght. It comes with a small cable that functions as an FM antenna but also what seems like a proper AM antenna, which I never used... However, reception can be dodgy without connecting it to an external antenna. The bennefits of this are very remarkable and you will get many more stations with a clear improvement in sound quality. And this is where the machine shines; the sound is clear and there is no feeling of boxiness or thinness. It just sounds pretty damn close to a CD and sometimes when my wife puts on some music it is hard to say whether it is coming from the tuner or the CD player. Unfortunately mine just developed a slight problem wityh the display... no big deal but it should still be under warranty. Very recommeded if you can still find one!
