Stanton STR8-60:
... ve been mixing now for a year and a half and I must say, after upgrading from some Technics from the 80s, that turntable quality is probably the most important element of your set. I purchased these decks second hand but they d had minimal use. They were my first pair of direct drive decks but they were remarkably heavy. I set them up and immediately started to mix; the start-up time is adequate and the straight to... Read the full review: A good start... by lesouk |

Citronic PD-1 ... i m just a beginner myself, and can easily beat match on any machine and i also used to work in "turnkey", in the DJ department. There are many beginner decks around, but none i feel of the same quality as the PD1 s. Most entry level decks feel as though they are made of tin, but these feel solid. They re weighty and also look great. All the bits from the target light to the start button feel well made, and i ve had mine for about 3 years now, and they have not let me down once. Ignore what the "snobs" might tell you about getting some proper decks, with faster pick up and brake speeds, more torque etc. Thats why THOSE decks cost £300-400 each, ... Gemini XL-500 II ... are damn good tables for new djs. When it comes to beat matching...you can match the songs quickly, and go off and fix a pot of coffee and come back...and they still will be BPMed nicely. These decks go great with a pioneer djm500 mixer. I am very happy with them, but still want to get techs. Only because I m told it s a better machine. When it all boils down to it...it really doesn t matter what machine you get if you re a good dj.... Read the full review: XL 500 II's are pretty cool tables by phantazum |

Rega P2 ... in 1992, yep.... that s 12 years ago Even then, my friends and family questioned why I wanted a turntable. Some folk wanted them because they had a established record collection, and wanted something to play records on. Invariably, they chose Midi system (remember those?!?) type arrangements. I chose the Rega Planar 2, and stick firmly behind it. It may have had a facelift, but essentially Rega are still kicking out superb turntables. I asked Rega for a brochure back in those days. They sent me a letter telling me to go to a dealer and have a listen. They had no brochure! But that was the best bit! There was no brochure, no silly specifications or tech-talk... S...
