Numark TTX1:
... Newmark TTX1’s are the 1st of their kind, they are an inspiration to the way dj’s work and will work, newer dj’s will disagree with me because they are probably using cd turntables, but TTX1’s are the number 1 DECKS in the world and for old skool dj’s I would recommend these highly. If you’re an old skool fan then it might be better going for the 1210’s because techinics have always been the standard in the ind... Gemini XL-120 ... made the mistake many beginners do - buy belt driven decks. When belt driven decks operate, they do not keep the record at a constant speed. this makes beetmatching/mixing almost impssoble. These decks are often flogged by the manufacturers in kits such as Numark DJ in a box or gemini mixmaster. These should really be avoided because they either contain belt driven or extremely poor standard direct drives. My first set of decks was actually the XL-120s and a PMX-20 mixer - the simplest set up ever (I think these are discontinued now but there are still some flying around on the web). Since I was 13 at the time, I found the whole concept of having turntables cool so... Read the full review: Avoid the belt driven... by middlj |

Aiwa PX-E855 ... AIWA PX-E855 is old skool to the extreme, straight out of the 1980 s, mine has had years of intense usage and it still going strong, unlike others that have come and gone in that time. It is reliable and has not failed me once in all the time I have had it. I like to think that they still make them like this, but I m sure they don t. This product is basis for the saying if it ain t broke don t fix it as few low-cost options today can even compare. The only possible downsides are the basic nature of the turntable, it has no anti-skate and is a belt driven table. But overall a very good turntable and an especially good choice for learners or techno-phobes.... Read the full review: Old Skool To Tha Max by smokey mac |

Stanton STR8-60 ... ve been mixing now for a year and a half and I must say, after upgrading from some Technics from the 80s, that turntable quality is probably the most important element of your set. I purchased these decks second hand but they d had minimal use. They were my first pair of direct drive decks but they were remarkably heavy. I set them up and immediately started to mix; the start-up time is adequate and the straight tonearm decreases jumping by sooo much. I always thought that the straight tonearm was only really necessary for scratching (I scratch rarely, however I do backspin) but it isn t and it, as well as the turntbale s sturdiness, has been very helpful while mixing. ...
