Bush MTT2 ... Bush MTT2 turntable is an attractive silver grey and was easy to set up and unpack due to good clear instructions. The belt drive is already installed as is the conic tip stylus in the generic MM cartridge supplied and mounted in an S shaped arm. The adjustment between 33 rpm and 45 rpm is a single button separated from an on off switch. The arm lift functioned easily and steadily although it is a little fast in operation. Sound quality is overall good although the original cartridge is intended for amateur DJ mixing and is sibilant on extended highs. With a high quality cartridge exchange the sound was exceptional, no hum or crosstalk with impressive midrang... Pro-Ject 1.2 ... turntable is ideal for those looking to be a bit retro and want to purchase a decent first turntable. Set Up Initially it takes around ten minutes to set up and this is easy if you follow the instructions. Quality The turntable has a solid wooden base, unlike other cheaper plastic ones that you can buy on the highstreet that are less sturdy and tend to lead to vinyls skipping and being scratched. I have had it for over a year and have had no problems at all, despite using it nearly everyday. Sound It has excellent sound quality and sounds pretty near cd quality. Gemini XL-120 ... made the mistake many beginners do - buy belt driven decks. When belt driven decks operate, they do not keep the record at a constant speed. this makes beetmatching/mixing almost impssoble. These decks are often flogged by the manufacturers in kits such as Numark DJ in a box or gemini mixmaster. These should really be avoided because they either contain belt driven or extremely poor standard direct drives. My first set of decks was actually the XL-120s and a PMX-20 mixer - the simplest set up ever (I think these are discontinued now but there are still some flying around on the web).
