Premium Review Citronic PD-1: £300 squid and your a dj.....almost (482 words)

Now I’m a total, well was a few weeks ago, newbie to the dj scene. I've been to the clubs, danced to the tunes and thought I could do that, looks cool and could be fun. So I set about getting some equipment, ploughing through mags the name Citronic seemed to jump out at me and let me tell you what I brought was worth every penny. I got myself two Citronic PD-1 decks and a mixer, and the decks are just brilliant. They have all the features of some very pricey vinyl turners but with a very cheap price tag, only 150 squid that’s what they cost me!!!! The PD-1 is a direct drive deck, and if your serious about dj'in u gotta get ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review One of the best Direct Drive decks under £200 (526 words)

Now, these are nice decks. REALLY nice decks, and they can be yours for a very low price. I owned a pair of these for quite some time, and they never, ever let me down, I have to say. The only reason that I still don't have them today is they got pretty much destroyed when they were sitting in the boot of my car and someone hit me up the backside with some force while I was waiting at a traffic light.... The first thing you'll notice about the PD1 is how well it is built. For such a low price, the workmanship is absolutely excellent. It looks right, it feels right, and it feels almost like a professional deck. Almost. You'd have to put this ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Citronic PD-1: They're not "pro" decks, but... (701 words)

Now, i'm just a beginner myself, and can easily beat match on any machine and i also used to work in "turnkey", in the DJ department. There are many beginner decks around, but none i feel of the same quality as the PD1's. Most entry level decks feel as though they are made of tin, but these feel solid. They're weighty and also look great. All the bits from the target light to the start button feel well made, and i've had mine for about 3 years now, and they have not let me down once. Ignore what the "snobs" might tell you about getting some proper decks, with faster pick up and brake speeds, more torque etc. Thats why THOSE decks cost £300-400 ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The truth (297 words)

These decks are awful, and I really mean it. I bought a pair 2 years ago, and have never, ever managed to get them to work properly. They are jumpy, despite the fact I have money blue-tacked to the arm, I have one deck with a wobbly platter, the other decides to only give output through one speaker from time to time. Start up speeds are frighteningly slow, and the total lack of torque is shown not just through the slow start up and braking times, but also because every time I'm waiting to cue up a record, the platter beneath my hand stops. Dead. Which is very annoying indeed. Above about +5 you start to notice that the decks have a tendency to ever so ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Citronic PD-1: Not Good (114 words)
by - written on 11/03/03 (Not useful, 456 readings)
Rating:

Thought they were ok as my first decks but as I got better at mixing I realized how bad these were. No torque meant platter stops when cueing record Woundnt track properly, needle just doesnt stay vertical when cueing Wont hold pich exactly needing constant adjustment Not enough head weight requiring coin/blutack on the cartridge to get anywhere I couldnt recomment these decks. Spend the same and get a second hand set of better decks or just pay a bit more in the knowledge that they will last you alot longer. I still have the MSX-1 mixer however and think thats great. ...  Read the complete review
