Advantages: Nice looks, Straight arm, Excellant tracking

Disadvantages: Price, Torque strength

After 2 painful months choosing new decks I finally decided not to get these. Why? The price of them compared to decks of the same quality is abit on the steep side plus theres somethin not quite right...

The torque (what turns the platter) is fairly weak to be honest which is'nt very good for scratching....which they are designed for. And at 650 quid u really expect a high torque, also the pitch control seems to get very slack when speeding the platter up....this may be linked to the weak torque but anyway its annoying.

On the plus side however it is a straight arm deck which does help with tracking which means when you are going hell for leather the stylus will not end up on the centre sleeve of the record! It also looks very nice too. But I just cant get over the torque strength (or lack of it)

Alrite to begin with i'll just get this straight i am NOT a housetrance dj as my name sugggest that was a joke i mix hiphop and am a turntablist. Right, well yeah fairly good review but i disagree with a couple of your points:
a) The 8-80s have loads of torque! they have 1.6kgf which is as much as a SL1200 so what are you talking about?!?! And in fact due to the excellent (for hip hop and simple tunes) key correction and stragiht tone arm these are, for scratching, better turntables than the SL's in my personal opinion thru use of them both. As afore mentioned the tone arm is rock steady and also the pitch fader is VERY responsive usefully having both 8 and 12% In conclusion this is an EXCELLENT deck for hip hop especially and i would recommend it to anyone. PS If compared to any within the gemini range ie SA 2400 PS2400 etc it is MUCH better not only in quality but the way the deck feels go for the 8-80s EVERY time! Okay thats it PS the price of them has gone down and u can pick a pair up for c£450. Happy mixing
