Technics SL 1210 II ... owning a terrible set of belt driven decks for a few years I decided it was time to invest in a set of Technics. At the time I was a student and had saved my hard earned cash to buy them. I had played on my cousins so I knew how good they were before I bought them. The 1210 s are basic but have everything a DJ needs with no fancy bells and whistles. Compared to my old belt drives these are a dream to mix on. Technics hold their pitch much better and you won t be constantly adjusting the speed during mixing. The motor is very strong and the platter will not stop underneath when you are cueing up a record. Technics SL 1210 II ... s The AK47 of the record player world this is built primarily to last, its sturdy frame and hard wearing exterior is both functional and simple I would consider this a design classic that is still being imitated! Technics SL 1210 II ... s for it s reliability, ruggedness and sound quality. It is still used almost universally not just by dance music DJ s but hip hop and scratch DJ s also. The original SL-1200 was released in 1972 as a hi-fi turntable, the SL-1200mk2 was released in 1978 originally with a shiny (very seventies style) silver finish. Later 1200mk2 models became available in a more subtle silver or matte black, Technics also improved the motor, shock resistance, added a ground wire, and changed the rotary pitch control to a slider. This version is now the base model and is the oldest still in production and is the model I have owned since 2001. The turntable is a very heavy piece of ki...
