Advantages: The software was east to install and i get a great picture when watching TV

Disadvantages: issue with sound and picture that was sorted by updating drivers

My wife and I don't have a TV as our living room is pretty small but we use our Computer for entrainment and DVDs
We have been looking at a TV card for a while and as I'm not particularly technical which is something that may come through quite clearly on this review.
We stumbled across the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1200 MC-Kit in one of the major PC shops that you get everywhere.
The box was colourful and the price was pretty competitive compared to the other branded products

I got the product home and soon managed to install the hardware into my computer without many problems the hardware was built to a good standard which is good for me as I accidentally dropped the TV card straight out of the box.

Windows Vista automatically begain setting up the card and asked for the drivers which was a pretty uneventful instillation which finished within about 10minutes which seems slow but my computer is nearly 3 years old which is ancient in PC terms.

One of the reasons why I purchased this product over cheaper ones is that you can connect a cable box to your device and watch/ record cable channels on your computer .
This was surprising easy and within fifteen minutes of opening the box I was using the software to scan for available channels

The main issue we had was that I couldn't get any sound from the available channels and the video was quite choppy.
This however was fixed by updating the video and sound drivers which is an easy thing to do but wasn't mentioned in the frequently asked questions

The computer we use didn't quite meet the minimum specs listed on the box but I am very happy with the result

We can program the software to make recording of programs when we are out and to date have had no issues that wasn't fixed by the normal reboot that seems to fix most windows issues

In conclusion this product is easy to install but your machine may need to update the drivers for sound and graphics which is an easy thing to do just Google a how to guide or contact me and I will email you through it. The equipment is made well and looks like it could take a few bashes as with a small child in the house things get dropped regularly
The software was easy to install and there is a tutorial within the software that takes you through all the steps involved in finding a viewing all available channels I would recommend this product for people who want to watch TV on there machine who don't have a technical background because the software is easy to follow and pretty hard to break

Summary: This product is great to have priced well and long lasting i have used this card for a year now
