Advantages: Decent picture, simple software

Disadvantages: Software update infrequent

The Winfast TV 2000 XP Deluxe is a PCI based solution for getting analog television (the five UK-based aerial channels) or composite or S-video (camcorders) onto your PC. Software included with the Winfast TV 2000 XP Deluxe allows for recording of any of these video sources for whatever kind of editing or archival reasons you may have.

For an analog reception card, the picture is quite good while viewing TV or recording a camcorder via composite video. With an non-powered TV-top aerial, I am able to pull in all five channels with only a bit of snow. I'd recommend a roof-top aerial. Camcorder footage is pretty clearly recorded.

The one caveat that might be worth mentioning when it comes to component video is that the picture from a generally high res or even high definition source (ie. XBox360) will seriously disappoint on screen. The downgraded signal through the yellow video wire played full screen on a computer monitor is horrid. I would recommend that you investigate alternate means of putting high def video onto your computer screen.

Receiving jacks for S-Video and component video/audio cables are obviously included to get you capturing video from your older VCRs or camcorders. I'm pleased with the quality which is adjustable of course.

The software is easy to use, but I wish that Leadtek would update it a little more often. Navigating through their website could be easier too.

A remote control is included, but unlike those from other makers, the functions are limited to Leadtek software. Furthermore, be careful about having the Winfast wizard properly loaded, or the remote won't work at all, even if you positioned the sensor properly in front of your PC.

Leadtek surprised me enough with this tuner card, that I've since purchased a new graphics card by the same maker. I would consider Leadtek again when I make the upgrade to a digital tuner card.
