when 90210 first came out in the UK i was a big fan of gossip girl, so 90210 was a massive let down and i didn't think it was very good at all. but, i stuck with it and am now an avid fan and GG is boring! series 1 is fairly dull and the characters are revamped for series 2 and it gets much better. series 3 is sheer brilliance and i've really enjoyed watching it and how the characters have developed, and all the storylines. the annoying thing is there's always a psycho who someone gets sucked in by! be it mr cannon, or now cousin emily :| it's so frustrating! but i guess that makes the storylines. it's nice to watch some hot people in a great location with their great clothes trying to achieve their dreams, but in the short term have a great time. it is dramatic, and deals with a lot of issues, which most people wouldnt be affected by - certainly not the number of things they all go through. if you like high school dramas like the o.c, one tree hill and the old gossip girls then this is definitely for you! season 3 is the best! maybe just wiki the first two series and start watching from series 3 :)
I am a huge soap fan and when I heard that 90210 were heading back to our screens I just had to give it a go. Considering this was a remake I was a little concerned that they would try and create the same characters, but they have created a great new cast. There are a few familiar faces of Kelly and Donna from the original 90210 and they are still playing the same characters just a little older.
The show is about spoilt and rich teens growing up in Beverly Hills and going to the local high school. The series starts with a new family moving into town and these are the Wilson's and they are trying to adjust from moving from a small quiet town to the lavish lifestyle of Beverley Hills.
The characters are Annie and her brother Dixon, who have just moved to town with their dad Harry and mum Debbie. Harry takes a job as school principal which the kids do not approve of and struggle to come to terms with. There classmates consist of Naomi, Ethan, Navid, Silver, Liam, Teddy and Adrianna. All of which are great characters that have their own personalities and problems.
All teenagers have their ups and downs and have their friendships pushed to the limit at times, but in the end they all end up looking out for each other. There are many relationships and twists that they all have to face have to try and overcome. There are drug addictions, adoption, car crashes, relationship break ups, fires, accidents and many more twists in the show.
The only disadvantage is that they did not get Brandon and Dylan back from the original show.
90210 is now a few series in and I have to say that I have not been disappointed and the cliffhangers on each series have me waiting eagerly for the next installment. Keep your eyes peeled as the new series will start on E4 and if you miss that it is later shown on channel 4.
If you liked the O.C, One Tree Hill or any other shows like this, then I guarantee that you will really enjoy Beverley Hills 90210.
90210! I, personally am not a huge fan of American TV - Well I wasn't until I found this program and Glee... now some would say I'm addicted.
The show is a sequel to the very popular Beverley Hills 90210 - which I didn't watch. You don't have to watch Beverley Hills to be able to watch 90210 - trust me.
So where are we now... in the middle of series 2. The show begins with the Wilson Family who are just moving from Kansas. The family's father - Harry is the school headmaster. He lives with his wife, Debbie, daughter, Annie and step-son Dixon, who was adopted. Annie and Dixon both attend the High school together and after some tough fitting in they eventually make friends with the "rich" kids.
The main characters in the show other than the Wilson's are as follows:
Kelly - from what I can gather she was in Beverly Hills 90210, she works as the schools guidance counseller and also has custody of her sister, Silver due to their mum's alcohol problems and subsequent death.
Mr Matthews- The schools "hot" English teacher, recently got his fingers burnt with Jen (Naomi's wicked sister) . He comes across as a really likeable guy but sometimes because he's so laid back he relates with his pupils more as a friend rather than a teacher.
Silver & Teddy - One of the main characters, Silver likes to be different hense her nickname - her real name is Erin. She is currently dating Teddy - a bidding professional Tennis Player and the son of a famous Movie Star.
Naomi & Liam- the ultimate rich b**ch with a nice side (sometimes). She has an evil sister, Jen. Naomi is currently Liam who lives with his mum and evil step father.
Navid & Adrianna - who is deeply in love with his ex girlfriend Adrianna. He works in the school along side his studies as a writer for the school's news cast. Adrianna is a bidding singer/actor she gets into some trouble with drugs and get's pregnant.
90210 is definitely my on my weekly watchables. I love this program, light hearted and fun. Definitely one to watch for the young ones, if you like Glee and all things American high-schooly you will like this...
The new class
THe most famous zip code in television is back with a all new cast and have dropped the Beverly Hills address from their name and now just call their show 90210.
Beverly Hills 90210 was a television show, produced by Aaron Spelling that ran from 1990 to 2000. It followed the lives and loves of rich kids in Beverly Hills and their exploits at West Beverly High School. That was the original show. Now there are a new crop of kids walking the halls of Beverly Hills High. The links and comparisons between the original show and this show are definitely there for all to see.
The show started with the Wilson family moving to Beverly Hills from Kansas, much like the Walsh family did by moving from Minnesota to Beverly Hills in the original series. Harry Wilson, the father actually attended West Beverly High School when he was younger so for him he is moving home. Harry was an old class mate of Kelly Taylor but as far as I can recollect he was never a member of the original show. Harry is married to Debbie and has two children, Annie and Dixon who now both have to attend West Beverly High School. Initially they both struggle to fit in with the cool rich kids but eventually they get into their stride and make friendships with a bunch of new kids. Annie is their biological daughter but Dixon is adopted and African American whereas they are white. I think it's interesting to see this dynamic and it's nice to see how well they all get on as a family.
Quite a few of the actors from the original series are in this show which I like although it's quite scary to see the characters that were the same ages as you now all grown up and playing the parent and teacher roles instead of the high school kid roles, it makes you feel very old!! Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) is back and now works as a guidance counsellor at the school. She also has custody of her younger sister, Silver who is one of the main girl characters now at school. She was initially in the original show but as a baby so she has grown up a bit since then. Donna (Tori Spelling) also came back in Season 1 for a few episodes. She is now a fashion designer and lives and works in Japan. She is still married to David (Silver's half brother) but they are having problems. Brenda (Shannon Doherty) also came back for a few episodes in Season 1 to help out with the school play.
Annie makes friends with the popular girls in school but in true 90210 fashion there are hair pulling and fights over guys all the time. Naomi is one of Annie's good friends but they fall out over a boy and Naomi then texts naked photos of Annie to everyone in school. Adrianna is another good friend. She is an actress and has a drug problem quite a lot throughout the series.
What I found interesting about this show compared to the original show is that they both started off very tame, the biggest problems for the girls were what to wear, when to go to the beach etc but as soon as they get a very episodes in the problems turn to drug abuse, murder, teen pregnancy, etc.
Dixon makes friends with some of the boys and girls too. He and Silver have a relationship but then breakup later in the series. Dixon is friends with Navid who works on the school paper (like Brandon Walsh) and who goes on to date Adrianna.
Some of the girls have, in real life, been criticised for being too skinny and yes, I agree, the girls are tiny but I don't think any of them could be called anorexic thankfully. Once again, the beautiful Pacific coast of California is featured a lot in this show because they all hang out at the Beverly Hills beach club and are part of the surf team.
I loved the original 90210 as the kids were my ages but by watching this show it's like I'm reliving my high school years again!
90210 is back on our TV screens after a long break away and it is back with a vengeance along with a whole new cast and interesting story lines. Set in the high life of Beverly Hills it is about a set of teenagers and the highs and lows of living in one of the most famous cities of the world, with all the little twists that could only go down in such a city as Los Angeles!
Annie and Dixon are brother and sister, coming from a small city called Kansas to the hustle and bustle of LA. With their father being the new principle of their new school, life is set to take its course, starting off with Dixon getting thrown off the Lacrosse team and Annie meeting up with her EX holiday love affair Ethan. The storyline evolves into many different paths, with Annie having a string of boyfriends and being accused of sleeping with her best friends ex amongst many! Dixon has a relationship with Silver, who is bipolar and he's tested on his morals.
The second season see's the story line going even further into the lives of these Beverly Hills kids, with drug dealers, cyber bullying, deaths and attempted murders that only producers from Hollywood could come up with!
Living life on the beach may seem sweet, but is living in Beverly Hills really what it's made out to be, or is it really sin city?
This TV show is not to be missed, showing in the UK on E4 every week, 9pm!
OH MY GOD I LOVE 90210 :)
its the best remake of a show going.
when 90210 came on e4 it got me hooked! its full of teenage drama that basicly anyone could relate to.
you get an hour of pure amazing drama that you will be saying at the end 'NOOOOO hurry up next week'
All the actors are so good, they have a few actors from the 1st 90210 that was made in the 90's which is really good to but the new one's are more modern.
- Annie Willson, she is the head teachers daughter, a goodie to shoes but gets lost in the tracks towards end of series one
- Dixion Willson, he was adoped by the willson family and is every girls sweetheart.
- Naomi Clark she is the high up rich girl who likes everything expensive and is all about the girly stuff
- Ethan Ward he is Naomi's boyfriend but he is slowly falling for Annies charms
- Erin Silver she is dating Dixion and right blogs all the time about people in the school
-Ryan Matthews the teacher that everyone loves who is so cool and is in everyones good books
-Navid Shirazi another in the higher class but doesnt show it he is all about film making and is in love with adriana
-Adrianna Tate-Duncan a very troubled girl making it as an actor trying to get money for her and her mum and turns it all around when she meets navid
-Liam Hunt the trouble boy who makes every one want a peice of him
this is the best show to watch you will love it x
90210 is an American TV series that is based on the old series Beverley Hills 90210. It is based in LA in one of the most expensive post codes in the world - 90210.
The programme follows the lives of a group of high school friends as they try to make it big both in high school and in Hollywood. The teenagers have all the usual troubles that every other teenager goes through including arguments with friends and their boy/girlfriends, family problems and all the other general woes that teenagers complain about.
The main characters are Annie, the new girl at school in the first series who just wants to fit in; Dixon, Annie's adopted brother who finds it hard being a black kid in a white family; Naomi, a rich spoilt girl who acts like a bitch but has a sensitive heart deep down; Adrianna, who has been an 'it' girl in Hollywood since she was only little and turns to drugs from the pressure; Navid, a very wealthy but quiet and intelligent boy; Silver, a hippy and confident girl who falls for Dixon; Ethan, the popular guy who goes from one girl to the next; and Liam, the bad boy who is only bad because of his troubles at home.
The whole programme is all about being rich, beautiful and the most popular person in school and every character seems determined to get what they want. It's an enjoyable series to watch and I do like the deception and manipulation that some of the characters go to to get ahead in their world. It doesn't go over the top with the wealthiness and rich personalities that they have and it's quite fun watching their world where every single person has to be the richest and most beautiful person around.
It isn't the best show that's come out of the USA but it is an enjoyable one and one that I watch every week.
How on earth do the makers of these shows find so many good looking people? And I'm talking seriously, amazingly, jaw droppingly, gorgeous people!
This is a sequal if you like, to the original drama back in the 90s, and even features some of the old stars both on a regular and cameo basis!
The storylines are a bit far fetched and often a little grown up for the supposedly 15 year old school children it depicts including, drugs, pregnancy, adoption, affairs, mental health disorders, and fathers on sexual harrassment charges. It is basically based around the rich children of Beverley Hills who attend the local high school. But it is delicious trash with lots of eye candy, so the storylines are not of great importance.
As with all these teen dramas, everyone is interlinked with each other, and involved in each other's storylines. But it is never confusing, and conclusions to each plot line are usually reached within one or two episodes.
None of it will leave you on the edge of your seat, but you will be craving more if, like me, you adore the trashiness of easy viewing like this. Not to mention the adoring of the beautiful Principal Wilson! Yum.
Well we are now on the 2nd series of this show on E4 at 9pm Tuesday evenings. I personally love this show for its over the top aspect on American High School life (or maybe it's not)!! It comes from the original show in the nineties (Beverly Hills 90210) now i never watched this but it seems to have made a brilliant spin off to a GREAT show.
The basic cast consists of:
Naomi- The most popular girl in school and extremely well off due to her parents divorce (from last series). Has an older sister who is really no good. Always looks after her best interests.
Annie- The new girl last series, was befriended by Naomi but now they are sworn enemies as she was accused of sleeping with Naomi's BF (it was actually Naomi's sister that slept with him) and now bottom of school popularity. Her dad is the school principle and she has an adopted brother who is in the same year as her.
Dixon- Annie's brother fairly popular with the lads and in the lacrosse team, was in a long term relationship with Silver but he ended it has she had feelings for his friend in the first series. A bit like the boy next door and quite the joker!!
Silver- Was Dixons girlfriend and Annie's best friend but it all went wrong with those relationships. She was hated by Naomi but they are now very close due to happenings in last series. Her sister works in the school as the councillor and her Mum is an alcoholic.
Adrianna- Naomi's best friend had a very busy first season with acting, being addicted to drugs getting pregnant then having an abortion. Has now calmed down a lot but is cheating on her boyfriend Nivad with a long lost lover!!
Navid- Adrianna's boyfriend one of the richest boys in school if not the richest. Runs the school newspaper and is fairly popular not the sporty type though.
The cast is basically a bunch of beautiful, rich kids who have the issues of high school life but to the extreme. It probably does represent an American high school slightly. We are four episodes in this series (I think) but its worth giving a bit of your time to see if you enjoy!! Its along the lines of OC so if you like that your bound to like this. The acting is pretty good and the people are just nice to stare at for an hour with their designer clothes, cars, boats and houses.....I WISH.....(or do I???)
I have just watched the first episode of the second series of 90210 and I loved it! Ok I have to admit it is pretty over the top. I tried to summarise the plot of the first series to my boyfriend with great difficulty! Needless to say I don't think he will be watching it with me again.
90210 is a spin off/ re- make of the original Beverley 90210 in the nineties. I used to love this show and was completely in love with Brendan (Jason Priestly - remember him?). A couple of the original characters feature in the new series (Kelly and Shannon) and it is full of other 'beautiful people'.
The series follows a new set of teens, the majority beautiful and wealthy but with familiar issues - teenage pregnancy, relationships, drugs, depression etc.
Ok so it is quite shallow and predictable but I think it has a real charm. I recommend it to any OC fans; it is definitely in the same vein. For a bit of fun TV watching you can't go wrong!
The new series of 90210 is a spin off of the original Beverly Hlls 90210.
When I first heard that this was being made last year, I didn't have very high hopes for it, but I thought I would give it a chance as it is my kind of show.
If you like The OC, The Hills and those kind of programmes, then this is the show for you! 90210 takes you in to a world that we can only dream of, where the 17 year olds drive Ferraris to school and hang out on their Dad's yauchts!
The show is based around a family who moved to Beverly Hills, consisting of Harry and Debbie and their children, Annie and Dixon. The cast is made up of the friends of Annie and Dixon - Adrianna, Naomi, Silver and Navid.
Living in 90210 brings drama - with underage drinking, teen pregnancies, drug taking and mental disorders
The acting is good, the dramas are over the top but they need to be to make for a good show!
As a girl, I love to look at the clothes and the beautiful people in the show - it isn't a serious show but it is good hangover viewing!
I have been quite busy lately but now that I have a bit more time I have decided I want to start watching a new TV show. While I was over in Los Angeles, I saw a lot of advertising on the show 90210 and I really wanted to watch it but couldn't access the TV over there and then when I got back I started university again and missed my chance. However, the other weekend I was watching E4 and they were playing repeat episodes, I wasn't aware of the show but was interested in it and later found out that it was 90210 I was watching. Once seeing that I liked this episode I decided to watch the first few of series 1 and then find out the proper story.
The whole show centres mainly around the Wilson family who have just moved to Beverly Hills to be with Harry (Rob Estes), the father of the family's mother, to look after her. Originally, they lived in Kansas which as you can imagine is quite a difference from Los Angeles. The mother has a huge house and is very wealthy as she used to be an actress, it is cheaper for them here as they are paying no rent living with her and also Harry received a job offer to be the head teacher of West Beverly Hills High.
The Wilson's don't want to move here but soon have to adapt to Beverly Hills life. Annie (Shenae Grimes) is the daughter and she is only 15 at the time when this show begins which I do find hard to believe as she looks older. She has had to leave her long term boyfriend Jason behind, she is a fan of acting in plays and genuinely is a bit of a clumsy girl but she is nice and well behaved and gets on with her work as well as being pretty.
Her brother Dickson (Tristan Wilds) is also the same age but he is not her real brother as he has been adopted by the Wilson's from a young age. He instantly settles in and gets into the Lacrosse team and also starts seeing Erin Silver, so has a girlfriend right away and gets himself a part time job at the Peach Pit the local hang out of the kids, to earn some money.
Silver, or Erin Silver (Jessica Stroup) her real name is at first not that nice, she is a bit of an outsider as she writes a blog on all of the gossip happening in West Beverly Hills High so everyone dislikes her. Also, she dresses differently from them and is very opinionated and doesn't want to fit in with everyone. However, instantly her and Annie click when they find a common ground and she becomes quite a close friend to the Wilson children.
Next, we have Naomi Clark (AnnaLynne McCord) who is the token rich girl, blonde, pretty, slim and popular. She is not your typical popular girl though as well as being bitchy she does in fact have a nice side and does try to help Annie fit in. She has endless money and Annie has never met anyone like her before but wants to make friends so tries to fit in with her.
Naomi is going out with Ethan Ward (Dustin Milligan) who is a star jock, playing sports and is also popular. They have been going out for a while but Annie knows him from a few summers back when she was staying in Beverly Hills. He is good looking but not your typical jock he also seems to be a lot nicer even though at first we are introduced to him by a scene where he is cheating on Naomi.
There are so many characters here; we then have Adriana (Jessica Lowndes) who is Naomi's best friend. She is also a movie star child who has been endlessly going to auditions by having a pushy mother and seems to be spiralling a bit out of control.
There are then your other characters who appear like the teacher Mr Matthews (Ryan Eggold) who seems too young to be a teacher but seems to be friendly with all of the students. There is the guidance counsellor Kelly (Jennie Garth) who is from the original Beverly Hills 90210 series and then Shannon Doherty also appears back in it as well as Tori Spelling. They still keep their character names from the original series but it is their lives now they are continuing to play on. There is also Navid who becomes Dickson's good friend as well.
There are so many characters in the show but it really is addictive. It is almost like The O.C in a way with the wealth and the California sun. I never really watched the original Beverly Hills 90210 as I was too young when it was on but I definitely like this spin off and am addicted already.
I love the whole setting, the skylines, the sunny beaches, the streets, the sophistication and the wealth. They are all well dressed, well put together people and the settings are always glamorous and it really shows that even well off people have their scandals and problems.
The show is on E4 at the minute they still play episodes from Series 1 but Series 2 is starting in January. If you want more information on the cast and episodes you can head over to the E4 website http://www.e4.com/90210/ .
In a brave move to recreate a retro TV programme, 90210 is essentially bringing Beverley Hills 90210 (the teen TV drama from the 90s) bang into the 21st Century, using the name and the school and attempting to make a certain success out of the brand.
I was under the impression it was going to be yet another TV drama that will fall by the wayside, conforming to the same old format that all similar dramas such as The O.C. do nowadays. However, it cleverly uses the former show's name but then stops there with the comparisons. Sure, it has the occasional guest drop in from stars of the original such as Shannen Doherty, but really it just documents the lives of a group of teens at a school in Bev Hills.
And really, that's all it needs to do. It has the attention from the original series and the link with the name, and from there on in, it provides us with some decent acting and storylines, and an appealing sense of emotion that I'm sure lots of teens can associate with. I find that the problem with a lot of shows is that they seem too unrealistic, but you can imagine that the majority of these plotlines are believable, and it makes it a rather intriguing show to watch.
It aired on E4 earlier this year, but they're showing reruns on T4 at the moment on Sundays. The decor and music and style is all up to date, and the glanour and glitz is present just enough to make it appealing but not over the top. It doesn't alienate the public like a lot of shows find themselves doing. Returns of characters such as Kelly (Jennie Garth) and Brenda (Doherty) mix well with the new 'family' that it mainly centres around, the Wilsons, and the combinations work very well.
Overall, it's well worth watching if it's your sort of thing. This will likely appeal to its target audience of teenage girls, more than anyone else, but it has enough drama and appeal to stretch to other targets as well. No doubt a second series will hit before long, and I'd be somewhat interested to see how this gets on in comparison to its predecessor.
I was a big fan of the original show so when I heard that a spin-off was going to be created, I didn't think it would be a patch on the original.
How wrong was I, this is up there with the original & dare I say it, possibly even better. The series centres around the lives and dramas surronding the lives of a number of students at West Beverly Hills High.
The acting is absolutely superb and there are some great storylines featured covering a broad deep range of issues. I also love the whole glamous aspect of the show. If you were a fan of the original series, you'll be happy to hear that there are appearences from Shannon Doherty & Jennie from the original cast.
I'm not a big fan of these kind of american shows nowadays such as the O.C & Gossip Girl, however 90210 does really stand out from the crowd and offers something rather different.
If you didn't get the chance to see this when it aired on E4 earlier this year, the Series 1 DVD is out now & I would highly recommend. It also contains some bonus extra features which were never shown on TV. I can't wait for Series 2 now which is due to air early next year!
90210 is the latest TV programme in the Beverley Hills, 90210 franchise. It showed in 2008 produced by CBS. The main characters in the series are the Wilson family who have moved to Beverley Hills from Kansas to look after Harry's mother. The programme watches how they integrate into this society of rich teenagers who have many problems. The programme shows a wide range of issues such as drugs, teenage pregnancy, adoption, alcohol and money. The parents in the programme have a laid back nature and are willing to let their kids have a fair bit of freedom but they definitely find Beverley Hills a bit too outgoing and they worry about bringing their children up there.
I found this programme a bit hard to get into at first but then after a while it had me hooked. It does have a bit of a repetitive nature but they are just trying to emphasise the lifestyle that is led in this town. I will definitely be watching the second series when it comes out and I would recommend that other people do the same.
