Advantages: Exciting watch, great cast

Disadvantages: Not a brilliant show but worth a watch

When the Wilson family move to Beverly Hills from the small and friendly town of Kansas, they are in for a real culture shock. The hottest and wealthiest postcode in the USA offers sunny climates, dazzling smiles, gorgeous and tanned bodies, and spoiled and demanding teenagers - they are definitely not in Kansas anymore. The Wilson children have to adapt to this new and upmarket environment and it doesn't help that their dad is the new principal of their new school, West Beverly Hills High.

~ Characters ~

Annie (Shenae Grimes) - the new and friendly girl at Beverly Hills High trying to fit in with the popular crowd at school, which takes a turn for the worse when she falls for an old flame who just happens to be the school's most popular girl's ex.

Dixon (Tristan Wilds) - Annie's adopted brother finds it hard to come to terms with the fact that he is the only African-American in an all white family. Where he was the best lacrosse player back in Kansas, he has to prove his worth in California.

Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) - although the beautiful, rich and spoiled girl and the queen of Beverly Hills High, Naomi has a difficult time dealing with her parents divorce and can't stand to see her ex, Ethan, with Annie, who she thought was her friend.

Ethan (Dustin Milligan) - the star of the lacrosse team has it all until he falls out with his friends and breaks up with the most popular girl in school. He quickly falls for Annie though and becomes good friends with the new crowd.

Silver (Jessica Stroup) - once outcasted by Naomi, Silver is known as a bit of a loner with an alcoholic mother and she spends her time creating an online blog about the goings on at Beverly Hills High. Annie befriends her and Silver ends up falling for Dixon.

Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) - a washed-up child actor, Adrianna deals with the pressure from her mother to succeed in acting and the social pressures of being the school's 'it' girl's best friend, Adrianna turns to drugs and alienates those around her.

Navid (Michael Steger) - running the school newscast, Navid has the dirty gossip on everyone and helps Adrianna out by asking his wealthy parents to put her through rehab, which strikes a flame between him and Adrianna. He also befriends Dixon on his arrival into Beverly Hills High.

~ My opinion ~

I never saw the old series of 90210 but I know that some of the characters and actors are the same and that it is based in the same high school. I assume that similar things go on in the new series including all the usual happenings that go on in high school, including affairs, fights, drugs and lots of pressure to be the best in a very demanding town.

The new series is a good watch, similar to that of The OC or One Tree Hill (I think better than The OC but not as good as One Tree Hill). It revolves around a group of teenagers and all the problems they have and provides a captivating and exciting show. It's full of anger, lust, jealousy and betrayal. Even the teachers get in on the action. All the cast are perfect and beautiful, typical of the sort you would find in Beverly Hills, and they all work brilliantly together. AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi) is a great young actress and is set to go far in Hollywood. You may have previously seen her in Nip/Tuck, Ugly Betty, The OC, CSI: Miami, and she's also starred in a couple of films. I wouldn't say it's a brilliant programme and if I hadn't of begun watching it from the start I probably wouldn't be too bothered, but now, if I was to miss it I think I'd find myself catching up on 4 on demand online!

Summary: Lots of drama in this Beverly Hills high school show
