Advantages: Something for everyone

Disadvantages: The range of programs may mean that you have only 1 hour of good programs to your taste

BBC 1, which is commonly known as channel 1, is one of the most known British TV channels. The channel is active constantly, never having 'downtime' as some of the channels now do.

What does it show?
The BBC 1 channel shows a wide variety of programs - from sport such as football or tennis (particually Wimbledon) to high action dramas like Torchwood or New Tricks to everyday soap operas like EastEnders or Holby City to films. The range of programs that BBC 1 shows is great, and as well as showing several day time programs - such as bargin hunt - this means there is usually something for everyone.

Are the programs any good?
This is a highly opinonated thing, and is individual. Personally I normally like the channel best after around 8pm, as the drama programs start and normally they are far better than the day time programs. However, many people I have spoken to prefered the day time programs. Generally the programs are easy to watch and most are gripping or interestesting.

Problems?
Although the channel is so diverse meaning there is something for everyone it is frustrating when you want to watch TV and there are only kid shows, or daytime TV shows on at 6pm ish. The major flaw, as the major positive, is its diversity!

Summary: Diverse channel that has some good shows - not to watch for 24 hrs though
