BBC1 is very much the flagship channel of the BBC. It's been around since the 1930s, and has an annual budget of (get this) over £1,200 million, funded entirely from the license fee.

The channel is probably best known for its British TV shows such as EastEnders and Doctor Who, along with the annoying Strictly Come Dancing. For me, it's always been a respectable channel when compared to the likes of Channel 4, and there are limits it doesn't cross in terms of vulgar content which make it one of the more appealing family channels.

For me, there is nothing on this channel that I now like watching. The main reason for this is the way it shows British TV shows, and there are only a few of these that I think are worth watching. No, the British TV industry is plagued by poor writing, naïve plots and weak acting, and I can't enjoy a channel that shows this sort of thing.

The one good thing about this channel is that it doesn't show adverts, so the programming is uninterrupted. This is a big plus compared to lots of other channels, but if the stuff on there is mostly rubbish then it doesn't really matter anyway does it?

I think the channel is good for kids, who will enjoy the Cbeebies stuff as well as the sensationalist plots of the soaps, but for the discerning viewer there is very little of interest. Even the documentaries tend to be better on BBC2 or Channel 4.

All in all, a channel that lost its interest for me as I grew up!
