BBC1 was the first TV channel in the UK. There is a very wide variety of programmes, from soaps such as Eastenders and Neighbours to Top Of The Pops to Animal Hospital to French and Saunders to sport to documentaries. There really is something for everybody here. The ceefax service is OK, but not as good as teletext on ITV and Channel 4. One ... Read the complete review

This is one of the great benefits of the BBC in my opinion. Even if the programme on is really boring, there is usually something to read about. There are main sections on news, sport and TV, with subsections in each, and many other sections. Ceefax usually keeps the pages pretty up to date, and puts up things like sports results and ... BBCtv has just lost out on screening English premier league football because they could not justify spending the millions of pounds it would have cost to retain the rights to it. If this is the case then how can they justify spending money on some of the rubbish that they are screening? A mixture of "classic" tv shows ... Read the complete review

..... I hate WIMBLEDON. Not only does it dominate BBC 2 every afternoon (fair enough, it is the minority channel), but why oh why (as they say on Points of View!) do they have to put it on BBC 1 in the afternoons at the same damn time! I cannot even escape to my favourite radio station (BBC Radio 5) for its usual afternoon fare of talk, ... Read the complete review

Does anyone see the point in having the same football match on at the same time on bbc1 and itv? (euro 2000) Personally I am fed up with football anyway, but why do other people have to suffer it? Eastenders was not on because of the football, and I'm sure that loads of other programs were cancelled due to the dreaded football, who wants to ... Read the complete review

Oh, what I would give to be able to watch BBC Television. I've been living in Germany for the last 7 years and would kill for quality television, especially good British humour like Blackadder, Monty Python, One Foot In The Grave etc. etc. I don't think that you can appreciate how good British television is (all broadcasters) ... "What have you done?" That is a question I seem to be always shouting at the television more and more these days, after I hear of the latest blunder. Years ago, the BBC used to be great, with programmes fun for all ages, now all there is, are repeats. The BBC aren't even showing the ceremony about the Queen Mother's 100th ... when a football competition is on, like euro 2000 is now, try stwitching between the BBC and ITV. is it me or does the BBC picture look better than ITVs? it may just be me and where i live, but the BBC picture is richer in colour and sharper. anyway... the BBC has always had a reputation for quality broadcasting and i think that it is ... BBC 1 is still as good as it will ever be and if anything is getting better. I would say that it is one of the best channels on T.V. I love there coverage of sport and I'm glad they have some of the Euro 2000 games. Now that they have lost Match Of The Day it will be a pitty but at least they have regained The F.A Cup. I think the soaps on ... Read the complete review

The BBC is known for quality broadcasting. Recently it's got itself bogged down in ratings wars, and of course has lost most of the decent sport. However, ("thanks to the unique way the BBC is funded" etc.), the BBC does some excellent programmes that would never be done otherwise. The natural history and local programming is ...
