Advantages: Good range of shows

Disadvantages: Some hold limited interest perhaps

BBC2 is the sister station to the main BBC1 station and just like the Beeb it is funded by licence fee payers. For me BBC2 is all about comedy as it has some excellent shows many of which have gone across to the main channel, it also carries some sport as well and does tend to show some of the less popular sports such as snooker and tonight following on from the huge success at the Olympics there is World Championship cycling being shown.

It is the comedy though that for me is the real plus point of the channel as it was responsble for the launch of The Office an also the spin off Extras while it was also where shows like Have I Got News for You started. I like the fact that there are no adverts on the channel and I also ted to watch Newsnight as well some of the times which is very informative and well presented.

It also hosts some excellent dramas and used to even show plays but this tends to not happen so often, I think as a balance to the more populist BBC1 it provides a nice balance as you get some of the arts shows including dance and less main stream music that you do not find so easily on other channels especially those that have to worry about the ratings.

Summary: Second state funded channel
