BBC 4 is the BBC channel with the smallest budget, and just 1.8% of the company's audience. It is supposed to be an alternative to mainstream TV, showing a wide variety of niche programming. I consider BBC Four to be the 'Jewel in the Crown' of BBC TV. The subjects covered are wide ranging and extremely well researched and it is so refreshing to turn on the television and find a programme that is both entertaining and in many cases educational.
