A very British news channel (BBC News 24)

CNN is a great news channel, but it's American. Well now the UK has its own 24 hour a day news channel, and it's called BBC News 24. Yes, this channel has been around for a good ten years now, although only recently has it had a boost in investment and relaunched as a top digital news channel.

One of the most interesting elements is the way you can press the red button and get a two minute loop of the latest news at any time. This takes 'news when you want it' to a whole new level, and I love that. I mean, you can come in at any time, and at the press of a button have the headlines: ideal!

The presenters are all very 'BBC-like', in their posh outfits and correct pronunciation. That's fine, but it means it lacks the excitement and personality of, say, CNN in the States. Even when the presenters are trying to be likable, it just does my head in! They need a good dose of enthusiasm and reality.

The news stories covered are pretty much the same ones you see on the news on regular channels, but the channel has a lot more time to go into detail, and you get a more thorough coverage on this channel.

Of course, it's debatable how good it is to be watching news all the time, and it's very easy to just sit there and watch the stories. When I was a young boy, my mum was ruled by the six o clock news, and these days she can just sit and watch the news all the time. Still, in the long run this is a valuable resource.

All in all, this is a good news channel that suffers just slightly from annoying presenter syndrome. The red button interactive features put the news in your hands, and that is perhaps the best thing it has to offer.
