Advantages: Can be entertaining

Disadvantages: Not as good as other channels

Bravo always used to be quite a cool and respectable channel, about 10 years ago when the whole satellite TV thing was still relatively exclusive. Of recent years, with the arrival of channel after channel with big bucks behind them, Bravo has turned into more of a cult channel, with its programmes being quite specific in terms of interest level.

They still have wrestling on there, although where it used to be the WWE (or WWF as it was known then), it's now TNA wrestling, which has recently acquired Hulk Hogan as its latest advocate and star. It has other programmes that are quite specific towards an American population, although I quite like watching them from a voyeuristic point of view. Dog the Bounty Hunter is a favourite whenever I catch it, which follows a Bounty Hunter and his family as they trek across the states hunting down people, completely legally. It gets quite hairy at times, and is good entertainment, even if I do shake my head constantly at the things I see.

Every now and then, you get an episode of something like the A-Team, or Knight Rider. Bravo have managed to hang on to showing a bit of retro 80s TV shows like this, which is great, as this is the reason I started watching the channel in the first place. Occasionally, there is a classic film. This afternoon, Death of a Gunfighter is on, a classic from the 60s starring Richard Widmark.

You also get some documentary type programmes such as Brit Cops or Behind Bars, which are quite hardhitting docs that do exactly what they say on the tin. They can be entertaining and interesting, but the majority of them are quite run of the mill.

Overall, I would say that Bravo is a channel I watch a lot less now than I did when it first came out. Evenings and nights used to be quite entertaining, and although it still has a few decent shows every now and then, there are other, there is so much choice that I it's rare Bravo has something more entertaining than the other channels. It's more of a cult channel now, yet this is a good thing, cos I know if I want something a bit different that I wouldn't get on other channels, I can flick onto Bravo and find something.

Bravo operates on Channel 123 on Sky, if you have it. That's how we access it.

Summary: Channel 123: cult TV and documentaries
