Advantages: Simple, Easy to Use and Navigate
Disadvantages: Have to get a BT phone line
Having had the worst experience of my life with Sky+ and due to the fact that Virgin Media is not availabe in my area due to an absence of underground cabels, I called BT so scope out their Television package.
It all sounded pretty good although I was worried that the package did not offer as many channels as Sky. Basically what I liked about Virgin Media that I had in my old flat was that it recorded various programmes randomly, things like Coronation Street and highly viewed items so you could 'catch up on demand' when you had the time. I always found this useful for evenings when there was nothing else on the box, or during a boring weekend while waiting on payday. What I liked about sky on the other hand was that it allowed you to choose exactly what you recorded and you could set your box to record items ages in advance (if the thing worked that is)
Now, BT Vision is a godsend, in that think of it as a service that combines both these features, yes it is true that there aren't as many channels available than on Sky or Virgin, but to be honest, you get all of the freeview channels which is the main ones that people watch anyhow - who acutally watches the history channel?
BT Visons demand service is like Virgins only better, as well as saving popular items from the weeks television, there is a host of extras, or 'box sets' which are available at the touch of a button for free, things such as sex and the city, six feet under, and many many movies (there is sometimes a small charge for these) are available at the touch of a button.
The record function is great as well, simple and easy to use and I have had no problems with it failing so far!
The only downside to the service is that you need to have a BT phone line installed - however, they do offer great discounts if you get their TV, Phone and Internet packages as a bundle!
If youre considering Virgin Media or Sky - I would suggest you look into getting Vision instead, it really is the best of both worlds!
Summary: Hours of Entertainment at the touch of a button
