Advantages: Good to see the old stuff

Disadvantages: Too much of it sends them silly

In this house there is always a telly on somewhere, be it me ironing or the kids playing with one eye on the telly. Not a bad thing, but life doesn't revolve around it.

Three years ago when my son was at nursery and his little brother first appeared on the scene Cartoon Network had a strange effect on my then 3 year old. He wouldn't look at you when being spoken to and he would talk utter rubbish and lose the plot by haring around the room at speed and jumping on the furniture. Typical 3 year old? Not sure myself. All I can say is as soon as we knocked Cow and Chicken out and some other weird named American cartoons, limited it to an hour after bathtime, for maybe Tom and Jerry then things calmed down a little.

These days I'm delighted to see more of the classic stuff on Cartoon Network, Flintstones, Road Runner, Scooby Doo, I know they all have their own forms of 'violence' and fast animation which is supposed to stifle all sorts of skills, but I guess its chill out TV for kids.

I don't have anything against this channel, just learnt a lesson in parenting!
