Advantages: Ebooks, demos and free trial of ebooks

Disadvantages: Once the free trial is over you have to pay for the ebooks but they are good quality

Pat and Pals (http://www.patandpals.com) is a new kids site that sells the popular Rhyme and Read series by Colin and Jacqui Hawkins. This series helps children to read by using onset and rime and basic short vowel phonics. What is unique is their e-books which animate the stories and have games and printables in them, and bring the stories to life for children on the screen for shared learning and fun on a PC with an adult guiding children around the words and getting them to speak them out loud.

Summary: Great alternative to CBeebies for your kids to learn to read with fun characters on your PC
