Advantages: It teaches your children things

Disadvantages: Obviously slumping in front of the TV for hours isn't great

I would like to show my appreciation for the Digital Channel Cbeebies. It is without doubt a wonder of the modern age that we can have an entire channel devote to well devised, sometimes factual and always engaging set of programmes for 0-5 years and often above.

This channel has seen me through a whole variety of moments, totally engaging my children whilst I'm preparing the dinner. Teaching them Number and Letters and Stories and facts from all over - far far reaching and showing more than I could on my own.

Much is to be said about the box babysitter, but cbeebies enables me a level of peace of mind.

Mr Tumble/Justin is a legend of and entertainer and his side kick Sarah-Jane compliments him brilliantly.

Charlie and Lola are a work of genius and seem to mirror my own childrens identity.

Numberjacks is one of the programmes I really don't get along with but my 5year old thinks it's wonderful.

I really think both the Teletubbies and the Night Garden are just the most excellent creative beautiful nonsense

And of course we have 64 zoo lane with it's catchy tune, Come Outside with the Aunt Mabel and Pippin off on their adventures. The aggravating but clever Ballamory, Brum, Nuzzle and Scratch, the Koal Brothers and so many more. All knitted together with sympathetic presenters that target audience perfectly.

I particularly like the bedtime hour which helps me to wind down my 5year old and usually someone famous reads a great story - last night it was Michael Rosen ex children Laureate reading Farmer Duck. It's like jackanory for little ones.

I think this channel is great and not to be underestimated for it's important place in a child's psyche - after all look at the muppet show and sesame street - who didn't love them!
