Reasons to buy a Teletext TV (Ceefax)

Disadvantages: Limited screen resolution. Difficult to navigate.

Whilst teletext isn't the unique source of information it used to be 15 years ago, its still worth having on a TV.

My TV can switch between using the Fast Text buttons, or having 4 different pages loaded at once. This makes it much faster to use. You can have one programmed to be the TV listings for that particular channel, another for the news index page, another for the sport index page etc. If you find yourself looking at particular pages a lot, then you can set these as one of the defaults for that channel.

Another useful feature is to be able to save a sheet within a page. If you're looking at a page where the information goes over 10 sides, and you missed the first one, you can type in to save and hold that sheet when it next comes around. This is a godsend if you ever want to look at the fixture lists for rugby or football at the weekend.

Subtitles on page 888 are just great for when you're trying to watch something whilst a baby is sleeping or screaming. Its still useful sometimes - they put the title and composer of music thats playing, which can be good.

I'm not a fan of the weather information on BBC teletext. I find the local information on page 154 of ITV much more detailed and accurate. The travel information at 430 is good though.
