Channel 4 or "4" as we are supposed to call it these days is a poor television station in my humble opinion, it burst on to the scene in November 1982 (yes it really was that long ago) promising so much, telling us that it would bring new viewing dimensions to our screens and that it would not only bend but also break transmitting rules to bring us the television programmes we really wanted to see.

Channel 4 tried at first to give us something different but soon towed the party line as we all knew it would have to and begun drumming out the exact same type of garbage as all the others or even worse. This station has had its share of decent shows but too few to consider it groundbreaking as it promised to be in my opinion.

WHATS GOOD ABOUT 4

Channel fours most notable show has surely got to be big brother but unfortunately big brother has gone downhill so much over the last few years that it will also appear in the what's bad about four category. This was beyond doubt a real winner for channel four for a few years and brought us some of what four had promised us but it has been running too long now and has become tedious to say the least.

Countdown is a game show on four that although I do not particularly like it myself has to be given some credit for the length of time it has run successfully for and the amount of fans it has gathered.

The same would go for Hollyoaks, a pathetic attempt at a soap opera for younger viewers in my opinion but loved by too many not to give it mention as a positive for channel four.

WHATS BAD ABOUT 4

I really could go on and on all day about the bad things but I will name but a few, starting with "Big brother", as I told you in the what's good about four this has to be included now in what's bad about four because they have proven with this show that they don't know when enough is enough.

This show has clearly ran its course and it is losing viewers faster than Gary Glitter lost fans and babysitting jobs but still they insist on keeping it going.

The constant documentaries on people who are so fat they have to appear on TV to be ridiculed or people that are badly deformed and channel 4 think it is a good idea to make shows about them is the biggest problem I have with the channel.

This type of TV is so poor it is unbelievable that it gets viewers at all but channel four pump hundreds of this so called entertainment out.

The channel 4 attempts at the news has to be termed laughable, they have the worst newsreaders and they are still trying to make news modern and something it is not so they need to just realise that it is the news just give us it as it comes and we will be happy!

So there you have my take on just another average TV channel, there is nothing outstanding about this channel and it offers nothing new so basically it is just another TV channel nothing more and nothing less, not the innovative brilliant channel we were promised and not a glowing light in the mundane run of the mill terrestrial TV offerings that 4 bosses would have us believe it is, just another TV channel.
