I think Channel 4 is great! (Channel 4)

Advantages: Some fantastic programmes on it.

Disadvantages: A bit rubbish during the day.

I don't really watch television during the day but when the kids have gone to bed I like to sit down and relax in front of the TV, I have always liked watching television and like nothing better than a good drama or entertaining reality show. We don't have Sky just freeview so we don't have lots of choice for something to watch but my favourite channel has got to be ITV, a close second though is Channel 4. I think this channel is great and over the last few years has had some really great programmes on.

Channel 4 was first broadcast in 1982 (the same year I was born). My first memory of watching this channel is watching Brookside, this also started in 1982 and I loved this soap opera. I was sad when it ended but I've kind of replaced it with Hollyoaks. I always watch Hollyoaks and although it might be a bit of a teen soap I still think it's great, maybe I'll still be watching it when I'm 40.

Throughout the day I will not normally watch Channel 4 unless it is the weekend then I sometimes watch T4. On a weekday morning there is usually repeats of programes like Frasier, Will and Grace, and Everyone Loves Raymond. The news will be on at noon and then in the afternoon there is usually an old film. So basically Channel 4 fills its day with old films and repeats, not my thing really.

Once we get to 4.10pm though that is when the channel starts to get good, this is the time Deal or No Deal starts. I don't watch it as much as I used to but when it first came out I thought this was fantastic. I forgot to mention Countdown which is on before this but I've never liked Countdown and now they've got rid of Carol Voderman I'm sure even less people watch it.

The Paul O'Grady Show, The Simpsons and Hollyoaks all then follow. 7 O'clock is alway the news, I find the news on Channel 4 quite boring and would much rather watch it on ITV.

I think most of the great programmes on this channel are on at 8pm and 9pm. Some of the great shows to come from Channel 4 include.....
Come Dine With Me, Big Brother, 10 Years Younger, Location Location, How To Look Good Naked, The Home Show, How Clean is your House, The F Word, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, The Secret Millionaire and my all time favourite 8 out of 10 cats. There are probably more great shows I have forgotten about but there really is so many.

Channel 4 also seems to have very good films on and for the sports lovers there is always Channel 4 Racing.

Overall I think this channel is great, I think maybe is used to be a little boring years ago but it has improved so much and I find it such an entertaining channel, definitely one of my favourites.
