Advantages: Some great songs
Disadvantages: Some poor songs
Last night I sat down to watch "100 greatest No 1's" which started at 8pm on channel four and lasted for four hours. It was presented by Graham Norton, whom I think was the best person for the job as he was very funny. When it started my dad and I decided we would have little competition to see who could guess the most artists to be in the top 10. As you can guess we put the most obvious artists/singles that we could think of, ie Madonna, Beatles, Michael Jackson etc... Out of the ten artists/singles we picked we only got three right each. This was something to do with the fact that there wasn't many classic songs in the top ten. The show was apparently the 100 best number ones voted by the public but to be honest I cannot see this. For instance Elvis Presley whom I thought would be a close contender in the top 10 was somewhere in the 50's!! Now this came as a real shock to me because he was one of the best. The programme also had a top five "we love to hate" with Spice Girls "Wannabe" being number one. In my opinion this song is annoying but I can think of far more annoying songs such as Aggadoo and the birdie song but they didn't make it. Now don't get me wrong I did enjoy the programme (even though it did last for four hours) but I just couldn't understand who would have voted as they did. I will leave my opinion with the top ten and let you decide for yourselves. I would love to hear from other Dooyooers who watched it. 10)Bryan Adams Everything I do (I do it for you) 9) Spiller Groovejet (if this ain't love) 8) Oasis Don't look back in anger 7) The Verve Drugs don't work 6) Ben E King Stand by me 5) The Police Every breath you take 4) ABBA Dancing Queen 3) Beatles Hey Jude 2) Queen Bohemian Rhapsody 1) John Lennon Imagine
