Disadvantages: Poor website, Poor coverage, Dull people

After the excellent debut series of Big Brother last year I was very much looking forward to this series. New contestants and the promise of better challenges and a new environment, as well as the much hyped interactive coverage on Digital TV and the website being apparently improved.

Well what a let down the whole farce has been. The new contestants are a shadow of the last lot, there seem to be no real characters among them, just a bunch of drunken idiots looking like the club 18-30’s rejects. I confess that I haven’t watched as much of this series as the last, but I feel that is down to the disinterest I have in the characters. They seem to be playing the game far too much and not letting us in on what they are really like.

As for the coverage, Interactive? I think not, all we have is the live feed (which is delayed and totally blocked of sound if someone swears) and the ability to watch a 2 or 4-hour delay, or choose from one of 2 cameras. The website is as bad as last year, so see my op on that as it’s just as poor. The coverage is non existent, the site is slow and unhelpful.

Overall I am greatly let down by Big Brother 2, maybe the fact that they know what to expect has helped them too much, and there is no unpredictability anymore.

And what about the house? How cosy is that compared to last year, hardly likely to make them work like the last lot. They seem to have all the luxuries that the last bunch had to earn, and the challenges don’t look as hard either.

Maybe the show needs a Nasty Nick, and a Fiery Caggy, but these lot just don’t fit the bill.

BB2, I’m disappointed.
