Advantages: Great documentaries and every US crime drama under the sun
Disadvantages: The News!!
Channel Five is quite new in the world of TV but it is fair to say it is my favourite original terrestrial channel.
Channel Five is famous for its brilliant US crime dramas from CSI to NCIS, Law & Order and previously House. Channel Five delivers what other channels never have which is to bring great crime drama straight out of America giving viewers some great entertainment which is what the yanks do the best.
Channel Five also do some Australian soap operas like Neighbours and Home & Away, neither to my liking but they keep these for daytime viewing.
Five also does some really good documentaries like Mean Machines, Big Bigger Biggest and things like Ice Road Truckers. They are very professional and make Five quite diverse in terms of program content.
Now the only downside to Five is the news, which I rarely if ever watch but sometimes forced to in-between good programs in little bulletins. I don't trust the news readers on Five and unlike the BBC it seems a bit relaxed for my liking plus the studio does not suit the situation. I think we can put this all down to the fact that Sky sort out the news for them so we can let them off.
Overall though Five is a great channel and its sister channels Fiver and FiveUSA mean that you've got loads to choose from, shame about the news but you can't win them all.
Summary: A great channel and my favourtie by far
