Why slate something thats free?? (Five)

Advantages: free, decent films, decent sport, secen schedule

Disadvantages: dont have the budget of other channels

Why do people slate Channel 5 so much? They offer an extra TV channel to us people who cannot afford Sky and it is to absolutely no cost whatsoever to us. The fact that it is actually a decent channel is a big bonus for us all.

They have brought through a large number of new stars. Graham Norton, Jack Docherty, Tim Vine, Lee Hurst and Bradley Walsh all got their main first breakthroughs with 5 and have now all been snapped up by bigger channels.

5 have also invested heavily in sport and bringing top events to terrestrial TV. They have brought us some decent boxing and have also signed significant contracts to bring so many of our home nations World Cup and European Championship qualifiers to our screens when otherwise they would have just been eaten up into Rupert Murdoch's Sky empire without a trace.

That's not forgetting a long string of top quality films that 5 have aired. Speed, Natural Born Killers are to name but 2 and yet there have been so many more.

Just think before you slate 5 and give them a break.

Summary:
