Advantages: A few good movies and shows

Disadvantages: Lots of repeats., Terrible gameshows., Bad reception in some areas of UK

Have you noticed how the channels have just got worse and worse?
When Channel 5 was unleashed in 1997, this was really the last straw.

I really hoped we would get a hugely brilliant channel, with top movies and dramas like the advertising promised us. Obviosuly, the first fault we picked up on was the very poor reception most areas of the UK recieved. And, in some areas, people couldn't get the channel at all. Not that it really matters!

DRAMAS
Channel 5 has only ever had low budjet sci fi drama series' like Xena, Hercules and Martial Law. Not too impressive really.

SPORT
All C5 has to offer in the way of sport is the odd foreign football match aired at about 3am.

GAMESHOWS
Fort Boyard is a reasonable game show, but never really changes. Nightfever is a dreadfully boring music quiz show where people pointlessly sing their hearts out.

SOAPS
Family Affairs (Channel 5's main soap) is a total copy of all the other soap operas, except it's much worse. Set in London, it's full of very boring storylines and unbelivable characters.

Home And Away is Channel 5's only really good show. Much better than BBC's Neighbours, but still a tad unbelivable. We must remember, this was owned by ITV at one stage (that's why it's so much better).

There were some american soaps (The Bold And the Beautiful, Days Of Our Lives) that were axed after a few months because of poor ratings (why am I not suprised?)

MOVIES
Fair enough, occasionally there are some good premiere movies on 5. But, most of the time it's 1980's Tv films which are totally unsavoury.

DOCUMENTERIES
Always the same! Every night it's Volcano this and Earthquake that! They're good first time around but then, it just gets boring.

KIDS STUFF
Not much of a wide selection. The kid's stuff is all on in the morning. Oh, and it's only for children 5 or und
er!

So, in general Channel 5 is pretty poor.
