Advantages: Helps gives the young british artists their break through

Disadvantages: Cheap looking

Channel u is a music channel on sky channel number 370. The channel specialises in under ground / grime music. What channel you promotes if british artists giving them the break through into the industry. The way it works is if an artist has a song and a video they send it to channel u where it will either get accepted if they think its good enough or rejected if they dont think it is. If its lucky enough to get through the song will go onto the playlist where the viewers can then phone or text in to the channel number (81700) with the songs 3 digit code to hear and see the song on the tv. Lots of people come and go from the channel u playlist with out making into the industry, but there are some success stories. To name a few : Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Wiley, Lady Sovereign, Chipmunk, N Dubz, Bashy, Dj Ironik, Jay Sean, Ghetts, Sway and more with also boasting the fact the channel gave Tim Westwood his big break in tv presenting before he went to MTV to do pimp my ride.
I think this is one of the best music channels on sky as it promotes no violence and giving young british artists the chance to make it into the industry and has changed the music scene from the stero type only Americans can rap.

The only problem i can think of is that the channel looks quite cheaply run and often breaks.

Summary: A great channel for british artidtd
