Advantages: Up-to-date international news and weather, website is packed with features

Disadvantages: Only available on Cable, digital and satellite channels but nevertheless, still the world news leader

C.N.N (Cable News Network) founded by Ted Turner, is currently leading the way in news reporting. Don't get me wrong, I watch B.B.C and I.T.V in order to catch up with the news around the country. B.B.C and I.T.V are good but when it comes to international news, C.N.N is the best. For instance, I first heard about the U.S presidential elections on C.N.N before I heard about it on the B.B.C. I also heard about the crisis in Kosovo before I heard about it on I.T.V. Their style of reporting is first class. Take for instance, only C.N.N will report on an issue that happened in the remotest part of the world while B.B.C and I.T.V won't bother to show it.

About C.N.N

C.N.N was founded in the 80's (not too sure of the exact year) by Ted Turner.
They started out as a local news station reporting on American Issues. The reporters made lots of mistakes when reporting the news. A common error would be that the reporter didn't know that he/she was on air. They were labelled by their critics as: "A chicken network " because they made lots of mistakes. Turner wanted to take the news to a new level. C.N.N became international in the late 80's and in 1991, Turner won Time's man of the year for reporting the Gulf war in full details and other issues that affected the viewing public at the time. With the growing public, branches are now in Europe, Asia and the Americas.

C.N.N is owned by Time Warner inc which recently merged America Online (AOL) to provide streaming video and Audio.

Any interesting features?

Over the years, their features have been changed dramatically in order to reflect the needs of the society at the time. These needs are reflected in range of features currently available in the website. You can now read the news in your local language something the B.B.C and I.T.V have to failed to do.
For instance, if you speak:

Spanish www.cnnespanol.com
Portuguese http:
//cnnemportugues.com
Italian www.cnnitalia.it
Swedish Http://cnn.passagen.se
Norwegian Http://cnn.vg.no
Danish www.cnn.dk
and Japanese Http://cnn.co.jp

If you are into business, you can of course check the stock market to see how the Nasdaq is performing on www.cnnfn.com, Interested in politics
check out www.allpolitics.com, sporty spice www.cnnsi.com (which is my favourite and can be seen in my profile page).

There is mycnn.com which is personalised by the user, chat room, streaming video and audio and C.N.N radio. Enough said the problem maybe that its only available on satellite, cable and digital channels which may mean that not many people in this country has heard of C.N.N. But don't worry, if you are into current affairs, you can also read the news on www.cnn.com
