Advantages: Educational, fascinating, brilliant programmes

Disadvantages: As if!!

Discovery channel has to be one of my favourite channels ever!

I used to have Sky (not Sky Digital) a few years ago, we then moved, and the parents left the dish! However recently ive managed to persuade them to get Sky Digital.

So now im addicted to all them brilliant channels!

I think that Discovery Channel has to be one of them, you either love it or you hate it channels. Purely because all of my <ex> friends used to think it was "sad" to watch Discovery channel (im 17).

However I thought it was great!! I used to watch it all the time!
Now im doing A-level Physics, Chemistry and Biology it really comes in handy!!

Some of the premier programmes shown are of excellent quality.

Crocodile Hunter has to be <still> one of my favourite programmes.
(For all you who either have never seen it, or who dont have Sky:
Its nothing cruel, the word hunter might aswell not be there, mind you I suppose a programme simply called "Crocodile" would sound odd!)

This is presented by Steve Irwin <the one with a death wish> and his wive....cant remember her name, Mrs. Irwin it will have to be!). Now if you've never seen it you will not know what Steve Irwin is like. You really must watch this programme, if for nothing else, purely so that you can see him and his death wishes!
That is by no means a joke. He really does risk his life 24/7!

If he's not scrambling on-top of a huge 100% wild crocodile, then he's dicing with death by letting a goliath tarantula crawl over his face. (Not particularly dangerous to him, but a bite from one wouldnt be pleasant, and the hairs off them can really irritate your eyes/skin. Also I mean, who in their right minds would want a spider the size of a dinner plate crawling over their face?!?!) Not me thats for sure!!

His wife is better, she doesnt quite risk her life quite as often. However Steve norma
lly stops her!

Considering he seems to have no fear at all, its not as if he never gets bitten or anything. Ive seen him bitten by a few snakes on this programme and the odd monitor lizard bite! (Ouch!) But it never puts him off, his knee can be gushing with blood and he'll just ignore it while making another tarantula look like a "right beauty".
(He's Australian by the way, so the lines "wow, look at that beauty" spring up a lot in his programmes!

So Discovery is well worth watching purely because of that programme!
However, now, with Sky Digital, Discovery have branched out into seperate channels. For example we now have Discovery Sci Trek, Discovery Animal Planet (see my opinion on that too!), to name but two....oh and not forgetting "Discovery +1hr" (which is highly useful when you're like me, and you always forget about programmes!)

In addition to animal programmes, there are countless Science programmes (added bonus!)
Simply cant do 3 Science A-levels without this channel!

Discovery gets a big thumbs up from me, 10/10!

(As a further bonus, its so educational, your parents cant complain about you watching TV!)
