For people interested in history, there are lots of interesting programmes about the war and other conflicts throughout history, with excellent background and political information, as well as archive footage included. The sereis on historical leaders and civilisations has been particularly interesting.

Aeroplane buffs also have a lot of programming to look forward to, with some very informative programs. In fact, just about anything with an engine in it will find a show on the channel at some time or other.

There is also a good amount of programming on the unexplained and paranormal, which allows a movement away from everyday interests.

Overall, the Discovery channel will be of interest to most people that desire information.
