Advantages: Inoffensive programming

Disadvantages: Same actors popping up on many programmes

The Disney Channel is the new favourite for my kids, taking over from Nickelodeon for the moment.

The best thing about the Disney Channel is the lack of adverts, rather than having hundred's of adverts for every toy known to man during the programme breaks, they just advertise their own programmes. This doesn't stop it being annoying and repetitive, (I think I'll scream if I have to see Hannah Montana singing Ice-cream Freeze again), but at least you don't have the every annoying 'can I have that please' as well.

There are a few decent programmes on the Disney Channel, favourites of the moment are

Phineas and Ferb, a cartoon series which follows the antics of the two boys (Phineas and Ferb) as they spend their 104 days of their summer vacation building all manner of projects, from crazy gold courses to transporter machines. In the meantime their pet Perry the Platypus battles with his evil nemesis Heinz Doofenshmirtz, and tries to foil Doofenshmirtz's plans.

Wizards of Waverly Place, a teen comedy that follows the lives of 3 young wizards who are trying to combine their wizard lives, with that of normality.

Sonny with a Chance, another teen comedy about a comedy show. The show is set in the studios of 'It's So Random' and follows Sonny and the gang as they produce their show and try to get the better of the 'McKenzie Falls' actors, with whom they have a long standing feud.

And of course there is my daughter's favourite, Hannah Montana; least said the best there, as far as I'm concerned. Finally the Suite Life of Zack and Cody is another favourite for my two.

All the programmes on the Disney channel follow the Disney ethos, of good clean family fun. Unlike many of the programmes they are moralistic and the character who does the right thing is the one who comes out on top. So they are the complete opposite of programmes such as Tracey Beaker, which shows Tracey being absolutely vile to the adults and children around her, and never having to deal with the consequences, or Horrid Henry which shows Henry getting away with bullying and being nasty to his brother and classmates.

The only problem with the Disney channel is the lack of child actors, Selina Gomez and Demi Lovato seem to be taking over the channel, starting in Sonny with a Chance, Wizards of Waverly Place, Camp Rock, Princess Protection Programme and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Then there is Ashley Tisdale who stars in Suite Life and High School Musical (and even High School Musical in Suite Life), a film which is regularly repeated on the Disney channel in its normal format and karaoke format.

Despite this, I think the Disney Channel is the best of the children's TV channels.

Summary: They made the Disney channel free to view, when is Cinemagic going to be free?

I think it is just bugetary with the actors who obviously become popular and then earn huge sums. It is inevitable Disney will cash in on them.
