E4 is a television channel that is part of the Channel 4 company. There is Channel 4, Channel 4 + 1 hour, More 4, More 4 + 1hour, Channel 4 HD, E4 and E4 + 1 hour. E4 is my favourite out of them all.

E4 is on Sky 136 and +1 is on Sky 137. It is also available on Virgin and on Freeview. Strangly enough it is part of a payable package on Sky and Virgin, but on freeview boxes it is a free to air channel. Very odd I think. I don't know the channel numbers for freeview and Virgin, but in TV guides it will tell you.

The best thing about E4 is that is shows certain programmes ahead of Channel 4. Take just now for example the new episode of Desperate Housewives is on E4 on sundays and previews on Channel 4 on wednesdays, Ugly Betty is on E4 on Thursdays and premiers on Channel 4 on Fridays. Handy if you want to watch ahead of terrestrial TV.

So what is on E4? Mostly american programmes. It runs 24 hours a day, and doesn't have any of those annoying sales programmes through the night trying to sell you blenders. An average scheduling on this channel is

You find that if a show is shown perhaps 9am on this channel then the same show may be on about 3pm, so it's like sometimes the programming runs in a kind of loop, which isn't necessary a bad thing. Most of the shows appeal to my viewing, and it is always handy when a channel has a + 1 hour channel, in case you catch something you want to see

This channel is part of the variety mix on Sky TV.
