Advantages: funny, great shows

Disadvantages: not available for all, much big brother coverage

E4 is one of the most watched channels in our house, except when the Big Brother coverage is on cos I can't stand it!

E4 was the second Channel 4 sister to be added to the stable of channels. It was added in 2001 and apparently aimed at the 15-35 age group. It shows many American shows, and often the new shows that Channel 4 acquires are shown a week ahead on E4 (for example Skins, Ugly Betty etc). As well as this, E4 also gets some shows exclusively, and they aren't shown on Channel 4 until much later, if at all - this happened with the first series of Skins.

The general feeling with E4 is one of fun, and purpleness! They try hard to get people involved, with a place to help design the "estings" between shows on the website, and a strange, slightly doddery old man voice over, who just makes everyone in our house laugh!

Some people may see it as a downside, but I love the fact that they show friends regularly, a few times a day at least, and with the help of E4+1 (showing exactly the same thing but an hour later) quite often in the evenings, Friends is always on!

Summary: A great channel with a great range of shows
