Advantages: free, shows The Simpsons sometimes.

Disadvantages: horrible atmosphere, thick presenters, terrible shows, stupid, stupid, stupid.

E4 is a free digital channel stemming from Channel 4. It also has a free One-hour catch-up channel which shows the same shows later on (E4+1)

E4 generally shows programmes exclusively for absolute morons, such as Big Brother, Hollyoaks, The Hills and The O.C. with vast amounts of adverts in between. The channel seems to be aimed at people 13-25, with its gaudy, trendy look and irritating, sexy presenters with zero personality or charm with whom I feel I am supposed to identify, but instead, along with the show's warm, fuzzy and loathsome ethos leave me feeling depressed and alienated, as does the exclusive content such as Skins and Smallville.

E4 Music Zone also sickens me to no end, playing the latest dirge by whatever vulgarly attractive pop skank has been played on the most adverts, and therefore possesses the most artistic merit, with moronic interviews and stupid questions asked by E4's very own soporific dullard nobodies.

Although it does occasionally show some decent programmes, such as old re-runs of The Simpsons, Scrubs, My Name is Earl, Reaper and 5 minute animated shorts by upcoming young animators, the endless repeats of Hollyoaks and Big Brother are bloody annoying and cheapen any viewing experience, as does the chirpy, forced optimism that the channel comes with, but at the end of the day, at least it's free.

Its all just mainstream drivel, and it works so well because people will watch whatever they're told to watch, and in these days of moribund culture and decadence, you can expect everyone just to laugh and bleat their lives away on videos of people asleep, celebrities talking about videos of people asleep, stupid soap melodrama and tired old episodes of dead sitcoms. Just eat it all up and laugh yourself stupid...really stupid.

Summary: I hate E4 and everything it represents.
