Shame on you C4 (E4)

Many moons ago Channel 4 used to be the channel for cutting edge TV showcasing the best in independent shows and the more controversial programmes that the ITV or BBC wouldn't show. It launched its sister channel E4 in 2001 and i assumed that because C4 had sold out that on its digital channel E4 would now show the types of shows that once made it great, oh how wrong i was.

E4 in fact shows the worst in television, it is steeped in celebrity culture and is purely aimed at 13-21 year olds that obviously read Heat magazine as a book would be too challenging. If thats not bad enough you can also enjoy it all again on its extra channel E4+1 which shows the same shows only a hour later.

E4 shows the worst in a American shows such as Friends, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Smallville and Scrubs along with the shows which i understand less than any The O.C., One Tree Hill and The Hills (which im sure are all the same programme). It also shows the worst in British shows too such as Shameless, Hollyoaks and Skins.

Along with the dreadful bill of shows that E4 have they also made the unbelievable choice to show Big Brother on a live feed for 24 (via the red button) but due to the lack of intelligence of its producers or maybe pandering to its audience whilst Big Brother is on each evening the channel becomes devoted to showing us the morons that are in the house sleep (im even shaking my head in disbelief whilst im writing this).

If you wanted a respite from these shows you could find solace in its 4music which is what it says, it is show on E4 in the morning and has now somehow achieved its own channel. With its mixture of soulless presenters and its "favour of the week" music you will be in for a treat. If you like your music spoon fed to you like you like your TV shows you really are in for a treat with this little Gem. Never will you see more La Roux, Kaiser Chiefs or Kasabian in one place, i think that would make a great advertising slogan for the channel.

E4 has absolutely no redeeming features and the only reason why i even give anything C4 are involved in nowadays is at least they made more4 and they have a handful of decent comedy on it other than that shame on you C4.
