ESPN America is a channel that specialise in showing US Sports Live, Pre-Recorded & North American Sports related programmes like say NHL On The Fly (about Ice Hockey). It was previously known as NASN (North American Sports Network). It aquired it's new name on February 1st 2009.
You will get this channel on Sky if you buy the ESPN package costing £9.00 per month for Sky Sports Subscribers or around £14.00 for non subscribers.
The primary draw of this channel is Live Major League Baseball & Live National Hockey League Ice Hockey. There is plenty of other programming on here including lots of NCAA (College) action including College American Football, Baseball & Basketball which includes the eagerly anticipated March Madness tournament which is Barack Obama's favourite sporting event.
All the programmes on here are broadcast in their original format. This means they have the orginal US commentary & whenever the programme stops for a commercial break, we tend to get one too. The nature of the sports on here mean that they are a little stop start & have more ad breaks than UK sports although they have less add breaks between periods.
I enjoy the channel. It's probably my favourite sports channel & I tend to spend some time watching it every day. Although I'm a massive sports fan supporting & working for my hometown football team & supporting my nearest Ice Hockey team. Because of the time difference I'm usually treated to either Live NHL or MLB at midnight every night.
I do recommend the channel, but only if you like the sports which it shows. If you think watching Baseball is like watching paint dry or you wouldn't want to watch any of the other sports then I don't think you'd like it. If you like a bit of Grid Iron or if you're a HockeyFan then I reckon you could watch this for hours & should give it a try.
