Disadvantages: letting millions of viewers down

* For 2002 Eurosport has decided to totally axe live coverage of the CART series, opting to give viewers a highlights programme a week after the event when results are known and the race is 'old news'.

To many this is a ludicrous decision as it now means fans, particulary in the UK, will have little hope of following the excellent championship.

This could have a direct effect on the spectator numbers at the UK CART event at Rockingham in September. How do you expect to fill a stadium when the public have no idea whats going on, as they have not been able to build up an interest over the season through TV coverage?.

Eurosports decision to axe CART has
the cynics amongst believing that its Eurosports way of down playing the series and passing it off as a wholly US based Championship of little relevance to European viewers, (which is far from the truth on both points), lord knows their coverage of the sport has been somewhat appalling over the last 2 years, with no reason given in response to countless enquiries from incensed viewers.

This is the second year of the series racing in Europe, there will be at least 4 European drivers competing in the fabulously competitive Championship.

Eurosport has let millions of fans down, big time.

Fans need to contact them to lodge complaints.
