Advantages: CSI and The Shield

Disadvantages: Steven Seagal movies

The success of Channel Five has been built mainly on the import of US drama series and the showing of some rather ropey Steven Seagal films as well.

The show that got me watching C5 and the main one still is the CSI franchise and in particular the original one based in Vegas and the later spin off based in New York, the Miami one is a spin off I watch less often as it is not as good.

Initially when Channel Five was launched it was hard to get in some areas and the quality of shows were poor, it still manages to have some awful fly on the wall reality style programmes with inflammatory headlines, the latest one I have seen advertised is Celebrity Rehab which sounds like a car crash of a show if ever there was one.

However on the plus side it has managed to bring over and show at peak times some great American drama, in addition to CSI they also have The Shield which I love and Prison Break, House and Greys Anatomy have all proved popular.

To be fair the films are not all bad, they did have the first Spiderman movie as wella s Swordfish and Gone in Sixty Seconds so they do have the occasional good one to make up for the dross that has been shown in the past.

Summary: Has its good points

The Shield is class and CSI is pretty good, not a lot else going for it.
