Advantages: cheap, easy, lots of choice

Disadvantages: not available everywhere

Freeview is the latest and simplest way of receiving digital channels through your existing TV.

How does it work?
You just buy a set top box from any store such as woolworths, asda, argos etc and plug it into you TV! Occasionally you may need to get an aerial upgrade as some areas ahve poor signal meaning that you will be unable to receive all the channels. You can check which channels you can receive before you buy by checking on the freeview website.

Which channels can you receive?
Again this all depends on where you live, but channels available on freeview include:

BBC One, BBC Two, ITV 1, Channel 4 and five, ITV 2, ITV 3, ITV 4, BBC Three, Sky Three, BBC Four, E4, More4, Film4, UKTV History, Dave, Fiver, Five US, Nuts TV, Virgin 1 , Teachers TV, Community
News / Sport BBC News, Sky News, Sky Sports News, BBC Parliament CBBC, Cbeebies QVC, Bid TV , Price-drop TV , Ideal World The Hits, The Music Factory

You can also receive these radio channels:
BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 ,BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, BBC Radio 6, BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 7, TalkSport, BBC Asian Network, BBC World Service, Smash Hits, KISS, Kerrang, Smooth Radio (formerly Jazz FM), Virgin, The Hits, Q, Magic, Heat, Mojo, Clyde 1 & Premier Christian

Is it Simple?
Yes very! they all come with easy to set up guides and they tine themselves in automatically. Just be sure that you check taht your area has coverage before you go out and buy a box.

The Verdict:
In my opinon this is the easiest way to covert to digital without needing to be part of a contract. You simply plug it in and go, there is no connection fee, monthly fee or subscription. There is also channels being added all the time, so it can only improve!

Summary: easy to work and set up, can only improve
