Advantages: A number of channels and only one one off payment!

Disadvantages: Some freeview boxes can be expensive...be careful and shop around!!

Well i personally think freeview is a great idea! For anyone who doesnt know how it works and is looking into freeview for the digital turnover, well freeview works like this...
You pay a one off price of between £15 and £70 (depending on which box you get and the features you want), and connect it to your TV via a simple scart lead, and your set.
You have around 50 channels including E4, CBBC, Cbeebies, BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV 2, ITV 3, 4 Music, TMF, SKY sports news, Sky 3, Dave, UKTV History, Film 4, Fiver, Five US, Smile TV, Nuts TV, BBC News, QVC, Sky News and a range of radio channels (plus a lot more TV channels including the +1 versions!!).
You don't pay any monthly fee, just the one off payment, and you can now get a freeview box like Sky+ where you can record and pause live TV which is great! You pay more for the initial box, but nothing per month!
Its a great alternative to Sky or other cable/satellite providers!! And now that the digital turnover is coming around its an essential if you have a few TVs in your home, or if you have any kids with TVs in their bedrooms!! :-)

Summary: Freeview is a great alternative to cable/satellite providers!!

I love Freeview, there's only a couple of channels I wish it covered that it doesn't but I'm not prepared to pay monthly fees.
