Advantages: good films, whenever u like!
Disadvantages: going round in circles looking for the film listings
When i first received Cable we had the centre package. After about 2 years all of the channels began to change. This is when Front Row appeared in my very own living room. When it was first available it was brilliant, between films it had a list of all the movies you could watch, as well as the channel number and all of the times. This was fantastic. It had all of the films that were new and quite a lot of good horror films. And for only £2.99!! Which really was a bargain - since you can record them and watch them all over again. I think it was around October last year that they were doing a promotional offer for £1.99 per film. In this week we actually bought about 5 movies.
How to purchase a movie:
First go to the desired channel and press 'select' then type in your pin number (This is only any use to cable customers) You should have recieved a pin number from ntl. Once you have typed this in, press enter and away you go! The 'E' on your box stops flashing and stays stationary. You have a ten minute count down until your movie and then it starts, ready for you to sit down in the comfort of your own home and watch the film whenever you like! (well, at the times provided!)
However, just recently I must admit I am getting quite peed off with this feature. The films and everything are brilliant, I could not ask for any more BUT i have a right to complain about the fact that between films you see these pointless little pictures of lights and a lady with a stupid helmet on!! Plus if you are on channel 50 it keeps saying
"turn to channel 50 for a list of films" or something along the lines of that. We already are on channel 50 and Hello? i'm not looking at any film listings!! I really hope they go back to listing the films between films. You cant even look at teletext for a listing! This i thought was the best feature possible and it annoys me that they have taken it away. Bring it back please!!!!!

l front row is brilliant and it really is worth ordering a movie from it. So go and do it!!!

- 01/05/01 Good, informative opinion! If you're thinking of going 'digital' on cable (like I am already) - be prepared to miss the luxury of recording these top 'Front Row' films! This is because the brains from the 'boys at cable' have solved their "technical hitch" by adding a special (interference) frequency within the actual channels itself, to prevent you from " . . copying films illegaly" via your VCR! |
