Advantages: great shows
Disadvantages: language
HBO is the best TV channel in the whole world. It is an American channel that is subscription only, and there are over 38 million subscribers in the US.
The channel is well known for being a risk taking one; they allow sex, violence and terrible language on their channel. As a result of this, shows that want to push the boundaries go to HBO; I love that! This means you have shows like The Sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasm on this channel!
The Sopranos is a six season gritty drama about the modern-day mafia. It's violent, and the dialogue is authentically coarse. It's pure adult indulgence, and I love it!
Curb Your Enthusiasm is a comedy series with Larry David starring. It's a
Pretend fly on the wall documentary which follows the anti-social star as he effs and blinds his way through uncomfortable confrontation after uncomfortable confrontation. It has the most vulgar language for any comedy I have ever seen, and I love it!
Other shows on this channel include Autopsy, which has to be one of the weirdest programs ever. It's a documentary that looks at the work of forensic pathologists and the like, as they discover interesting things through examining dead bodies. It's ugly viewing, with dead bodies galore, and the stories themselves are so shocking they can stay with you for ages. Again, it's typical HBO, and I love that!
There are occasional shows that aren't so good, such as Entourage, but all in all you can trust HBO to be at the forefront of gritty television.
All in all, I love this channel. I love the way it shows the content other channels are afraid to show: brilliant! However, I would definitely say that this is not for kids, or those who are easily offended, so bear that in mind!
Summary: do it
